Went for a couple of fleemarkets today in search for hackable electronic toys for the Arduino workshop. Didn’t find anything appropriate. Too bad. But at least I got me a new frisbee (well, not new..) and a new Epyx 500XJ joystick. The joystick is actually “new”, although it’s almost exactly twenty years old as its made in 1987. It’s for the Sega Master System but I thought it might be possible to mod for use with my flea market bargain 60 kronor Commodore 64. Also, its some kind of copy or B-edition as it doesn’t have the original red stripes but some weird tin foil. Unfortunately the foil is glued with some sticky glue over the seam. Oh, well. It was only 10 kr so it doesn’t really matter. I remember when they were released. They were the top of the pops, the signifiers of cool, innovation, the new.
Spent the evening testing out Drupal, a more complex content management system than Wordpress that I’m using now. Why is that? Isn’t WP any good? Yes, sure it is. But I want to play around with templates and multiple subdomains and stuff in general that WP just doesn’t do. Or, as far as I know, doesn’t do very good. Drupal seems like an interresting alternative.
